upon startup of dellb130 w/winxp,common folder pops up,how do i delete this empty folder

Try this. Open "C:\Documents and Settings\"YOUR NAME"\Start Menu\Programs\Startup". If that folder is there, then right click and choose COPY then Paste it somewhere like "My Documents" in case you need it, but if it is empty you probably don't.
