I don't think it is an issue with McAfee.  I believe it is the result of the configuration of your Newtwork Adapter.  I had a similar problem with my E521 and changing the configuration of my broadband device solved the problem.  Try this:  go to Device Manager, select Network Adapter, double click to get to the configuration menus.  First go to Power Management and verify the "Allow computer to turn off this device" is checked.  Then go to the Advanced menu and select Wake Up Capabilities and set it to "none."  This will allow the computer to turn off your ethernet connection and it will sleep until you wake it up.  I believe there may also be a setting in the BIOS that would do a similar thing, but I prefer not to mess with BIOS settings unless I have to.  Give it a shot and let me know if it worked.

Sleep was an issue with me as well, but for a fix, I followed someone else's instruction, removed my USB keyboard connection and used instead the PS/2 keyboard input.   My keyboard has both USB and PS/2 connectors.  All is well now. 

If it is sleeping you don't need the network.

On a laptop with Vista (Basic) I have a problem with waking (the system). Until I sort this out, I am changing the power settings to "High performance" and changing all four settings to "Never"

I am accustomed to Windows XP Pro systems where I "wake up" the system by hitting Esc and/or moving the mouse (pointer) around for about a minute. I have tried that (no waking) and even press and release power button. What is one supposed to do just to wake a sleeping Vista?
