VISTA cd not being read by my DVD

I have a INSPIRON 1501, with Toshiba DVD. I ran the upgrade assistant with no problem, then inserted the VISTA cd. The DVD will not read it, checked  my computer and it shows no content. Checked the CD in another computer DVD, and it read it fine.    What up.

Note that Vista is on a DVD, not a cd. Are you sure you have a dvd drive?

Do you have any Roxio software? Drag to disc can affect disc reading. If you do, disable it and then try.

Weird. To rule out software, try booting off the Vista DVD. Let us know what happens.

I restarted with  DVD in the drive. It did not recognise that a DVD was in it. Windows opened as usual. I have ran a movie and Data DVD and an audio cd with no problem. Very wierd.

You must need to enter the bios (setup) and change the boot order to put the dvd/cd drive first.
