Vista Upgrade for Dell Outlet systems

I purchased an XPS desktop computer from Dell Outlet this week.  The system has the Vista compatible logo.  Are computers purchased from the Dell Outlet site eligible for the free upgrade to Vista? If not, there are going to be a lot of unhappy customers.

I'm guessing that if it is not listed, than its a no go.  Those are systems that were either sent back, dent, and scratch, delivered not open, or were not shipped to the customer, and will not have the Vista coupon included.

I bought a refurbished XPS M1210 also within the timeframe. Did not see anything that said upgrade would not be available for those buying from the outlet. Hope they honor it. else this won't be the first time I return a system to Dell, but the last one.

I ordered from the outlet, however the discount I received wouldn't cover the cost of Vista.  If they don't honor my system, I'll return it, since I am still within my first 21 days.

ALL of the systems in the Outlet are there because they can not be sold as new.  Say you ordered a brand new laptop, received it and never opened the box and returned it the next day.  By law, Dell can never sell that system as new, ever, period, end of story.

So what you think is new , really is not.  You are getting a very good deal on those systems to begin with, but you can't have it both ways.

I think if you read the terms of the coupon it say soemthing to the effect of a "new system".  Refurbs are not new.

There are several catagories in the Dell Outlet site including:

    Previously Ordered New
Never used, cancelled orders, or returned systems that were never fully booted. Systems tested by Dell Outlet.

Why should this not qualify for a free upgrade from XP to Vista?  You are still buying a "new" unused and unregistered copy of Windows XP from Dell in the time frame specified by Dell.  And if the hardware meets the requirements for Vista, that should be enough to quality in my opinion.

If the detailed listing of the computer shows a Vista upgrade coupon, then you get one.  If it doesn't, you don't.

Return it and buy a new one.

Come on guys, be real!!! This complaining about Dell is getting old. By another brand and complain about them. I've been buying refurbs since 1999, and have NEVER had a problem with one. I use them at home, and at our business (25 or so). I just got an XPS 700, thats right, the one everyone is complaining about, and I love it. Everything works as it should, even the overclocking feature, no crashes, and the best part is, I don't even have 1500 bucks in it!
You buy a refurb system, save hundreds of dollars, and you are complaining about no vista upgrade? If it upsets you so much, send it back and pay 4-800 bucks more for a new one, and get your Vista upgrade. It would do you well to click the "view details" link the next time and read it, if something you want isn't there, they are not going to throw it in, don't buy it. I'm not flaming anyone, just being real. After all, Dell is in buisness to make money, right?
I haven't read anything saying that they are a non-profit organization.
Well, the truth is in the old saying, you can make some people happy some of the time, but you can't make all of the people happy all the time!
Just my 2 cents. And no, I don't work for Dell

To put it in another light...do you think a bank would finance a "demonstrator car" as new.  Not likely.

I am not complaining about refurbished, they work for me, and although I have had several problems with them, Dell has always been able to help me and to replace what got broken.

The Bottom line  is that Dell is not clear about what you will or won't get with your refurbished system. It is truly deceiving. I was told this machines are put back on the production line and treated as new.

Add the upgrade, I am buying this system for the first time.

I am entitled to my own opinion and I respect yours. Thank you.
