Windows Media center XP

Hi all,
I can't seem to find what's wrong with my media center 2005 edition. I moved my computer to another room and since then, it's stopped functioning.
I've tried downloading updates etc. to the system but it won't let me. I know I didn't remove the media center so what could have gone wrong and how can I fix it.
Technologically challenged,
sidas

    Hi Sidas

Before anyone can help (other than by a lucky guess!) you need to tell us what model of PC you are using and exactly what the symptoms are. Otherwise its a bit like the proverbial needle in a haystack.

    Oh sorry!
    I have a Dimension E510 PC.
The system came loaded with the Media Center 2005 edition. It worked fine till I moved the computer to another room and then, I couldn't run it anymore. When I click on the icon, it says that I need to install one of the .NET framework files: v1.1.4322 It says I need to contact my application publisher for instructions about obtaining the appropriate version of the .NET framework.
Should I contact the Dell support?
    Thanks!

I reckon the first thing to try is a system restore. This will restore the essential Windows system files and the registry to the state they were in at a given date in the past.

Go to Control Panel, coose Performance and Maintenance and then click on System Restore.

Choose the latest restore point before the computer went wrong and then follow the instructions.

Let us know how you get on.

    Hi:

If System restore doesn't fix your problem, you can try repairing or re-installing .Net Framework 1.1, which is required for MCE to work.

You can check to see if you already have the .NET Framework 1.1 installed by clicking Start on your Windows desktop, selecting Control Panel, and then double-clicking the Add or Remove Programs icon. When that window appears, scroll through the list of applications. If you see Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 listed, the latest version is already installed and you do not need to install it again.

Also make sure you have all the .Net Framework hotfixes available from the MS Update site.

    joe53,
Thanks so very much! I didn't want to do a system restore because I would lose some important downloads, but I did download the .NET 1.1 file and it restored my Media Center. I'll play around with it some more and get MS updates to keep it updated.
Thanks again to everyone who replied!

You may love it but it is MY personal opinion that Media Center S a big one.  I want to REMOVE it entirely.  I went to Add/Remove and deleted as much as the computer would allow but when I launch Media Player, despite my removal, Media Center rears it's ugly head.  How do I totally and completely get rid of it?  I have another computer with XP Pro I bought.  I suspect I'll have to wipe Dell's software install and try to install that version on my recently purchased XPS.  Any ideas short of that?
