Window's media Questions

I use window's media as my player of choice unless a site requires real Player. My system also has the Musicmatch jukeBox on it that came from the factory. When I go into the media Player and click on TOOLS, then OPTIONS, then, FILE TYPES and select all and apply and then ok I assume that it should stay that way. But when I then check any downloaded music files they have the MusicMatch logo instead of the Windows logo. I then have to do the steps all over again with the media Player. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING and what can I do about it. I wish I could wipe all the software that was installed on my system that I don't want off, but it doesn't seem to work that way. I have an XPS400

There is a "recover files" settings in MM that allows it to reclaim your sound files. Personally, I just uninstall MM & you should consider that, but you can disable that and all other features by unchecking every single options in MM Preferences, Settings or Options. I also remove all MM startups from the Run key in the Registry.
