Windows XP Reinstallation

I need to reinstall Windows XP Operating System. And ive already reinstalled it. But after reinstallation, it couldnt detect the network adaptor.. WHY? What can i do now?

Hi, Thanks for the response. I could get it work after installing the drivers Finally!! After trying for like 3 hours :S But haizz. Now it says my Windows XP product key is invalid when I used to product key on the COA Sticker on my CPU. -_-" Now trying to get Microsoft people to help me. I got a question, why is it that DELL PC needs to additionally install network drivers and audio drivers for it to work? I remembered last time Ive used ACER PC, and i dont remember extra installing these drivers, I think it was auto detected..487

If you reinstall XP from the Dell XP CD onto a Dell PC, it typically doesn't ask for an XP product key. It uses Dell's OEM XP key, which is different from your individual key on that sticker.
Make sure you're reading the sticker correctly. It's very easy to confuse letter B with number 8, letter O with zero, letter V with Y, etc.
Yes, you still have to install the chipset, video, audio, network drivers, etc. for the installed hardware, even if the hardware (eg, network adaptor) is on the motherboard. You'll need to know which hardware you have too. For example, are you using onboard audio or do you have add-in PCI (SoundBlaster) audio card, onboard graphics or add-in (nVidia or ATI) graphics card...?
Don't know Acer. This is the way Dell is.

ohh ok. Thanks for your explanation. But I have used the Windows XP Reinstallation CD provided in my DELL package, but it did asked me for the Product Key when i was doing the installation. Anyway, how can i find out the DELL OEM Key? Thanks :)487

I would call Dell bro. Not sure if you are out of support but if you are then there isn't much you can do other than buy Windows.487

Check to see if the CD version matches the sticker . . Home or Pro . . there were some Dells shipped with mislabled Install cd's . . Dell is aware and will replace the discs.Otherwise, as mentioned, double check to insure you did not confuse a B with 8 . . a G with 6 or something similar.Last ditch remedy would be to boot from the install CD . . delete all partitions, then reboot ( versus continueing with the installation ) to start the installation over again. That will likely avoid the request for the Product Key and the need to activate

Hey yup. Ive redone the installation by booting up from CD. and it did wonders! Hee. It didnt ask me for activation. And the product key on the label works.487

Typical order for reinstallation is:
XP
Dell Desktop System Software (DSS, if provided for this model)
chipset driver
video driver
audio driver
network driver
etc...
