For some reason my games and calculator and other things the accessories menus are no longer on my computer...not sure why or how to fix. Also, my internet is running very slowly on our wireless network but runs very fast when hooked directly up to the router through an ethernet cable. It has run faster in the past...and my roommates computers are running smoothly on the wireless network. thanks in advance for any help.
I had the same wireless problem on an Inspiron 1150 with the Dell Wireless WLAN 1450 Dual Band WLAN Mini-PCI Card and a Linksys WRT54G. By right-clicking
My Computer, selecting
Manage then going to
Device Manager, the 6th one down in my list, I looked for
Network Adapters and
Uninstalled the Dell Wireless WLAN 1450 Dual Band WLAN Mini-PCI Card by right-clicking and slecting
uninstall. Make sure you have the driver on your hard drive a CD-ROM or USB Drive or some place BEFORE you delete the adapter. Then I rebooted and I had to run the WLAN install program: R83097.EXE to get it working again.
The accessories folder is just a bunch of shortcuts that can be copied from one of your roomates All Users ... Accessories forlders: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories. If the programs are no longer on your hard drive, try going to
Control Panel,
Add/Remove Programs,
Add / Remove Windows Components and
Unchecking Accessories and Utilities click
Next then go back and check
Accessories and Utilities to try and reinstall them. You will need your Windows CD and possibly any service pack CD's that have been installed.
The best way is to go to
Dell Downloads and put in your Service Tag number so you can download the latest driver for the network card(s) in your computer.
