I am running a new Dell XPS 8930 Desktop running Windows 10. I have a Logitech Z313 Stereo speakers and Subwoofer that worked on my last computer. It has only one line to connect from my computer to the Z313 speaker system.
The back of my desktop has three connections. Front L/R surround line-out port, Rear L/R Surround port and a Center/Subwoofer LFE Surround port.
Which one should I use for my speakers ? I tried each one to no avail. I have run the Troubleshooter and every other action that I can think of. Device Manager shows that I am using Realtec Audio and that the Device is working properly.
Can you give me any advice how to fix this? Thank you for any help you can give me.
"Speakers" (Realtek PC sound) must be set as default audio playback device to have sound at the rear "line out" (speaker) jack.
If you are using HDMI for your monitor, Windows automatically switches the sound playback to HDMI and you will have to manually switch to "Speakers". One workaround is disable the HDMI sound in the Device Manager (Intel sound or if you have an optional video card the video card's sound).

plug into the jack on your monitor instead of the jacks on the back of the tower. Make sure the monitor is set as the default output sound device. Hope this assists as it drove me nuts for several days.
@FPR31G You should connect your speakers to the Front L/R surround line-out port in the rear of the computer, then you should go to Device Manager | Sound | Playback tab and make sure Speaker/Headphones for Realtek Audio is the Default Device. Also if you have the Dell Audio / MaxxAudio Pro app, you should make sure Speakers / Headphones is not muted.
I suggest you test XPS-8930 analog-audio-out with a inexpensive pair if headphone/earbuds.
Wired, only 2 speakers (no mic). Should have a 1/8-inch plug with 3-contact/bands visible.

Thanks for the advice it worked plugging into my Monitor.
Happy for that although still very disappointed in it not working on the computer, cause it was working.
It's probably an issue with Waves MaxxAudio software that Dell installed on the XPS 8930. It seems that every time Windows Update updates the Realtek audio drivers, which -for the XPS 8930- have Waves MaxxAudio embedded, it messes up audio output on my XPS 8930 so that might be what caused your issues.
Read my post here. The thread is for an XPS 8940, but I learned how to fix these audio problems on my XPS 8930 and that's how I do it...
