Dell G5 15 5587 RAM

I have a Dell G5 15 5587 on order. It has 16GB RAM. I understand that the motherboard has two RAM slots. Will it have a single 16GB chip or two 8GB chips? Thanks.

Probably two 8Gb RAM modules. But if you want to find out easily head to Crucial and they have a small program that you can download and it will display what type of RAM and the number.

Thank you for your message. This system is available with Two SODIMM DDR4 @ 2400 MHz speed & configurations supported 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB.

Did you place the order online or by calling the phone sales team?  If it is placed online there is an option to choose the memory.

The memory can either be 8GB X 2 or 16 GB X 1 as per the image below.

For my reference, please click on the message tab next to your avatar– click “New Message” & search for my Dell username (Dell-Sreejith R) & send a private message with the order number, registered name & email address, I will have the order checked for you.

Thank you for your message. This system supports two SODIMM dual-channel DDR4 @ 2666 MHz speed and a maximum of 32GB.

Yes, you can have additional memory of 16 GB to make it up to 32GB.

You can purchase the memory directly from Dell by clicking on this link. You can also purchase from any 3rd party. Just make sure that the memory purchased matches the memory you have into your system.

    Hello,

is it possible to put single stick of 32GB RAM DDR4-2666 MHz in G5? Or even 2x32GB so the total amount of memory would be 64GB RAM? The specs od G5 are clear that the maximum amount of memory is 32GB, but Dell XPS 9570 is the same generation of laptop an the specs are also clear about it, it's supports only 32GB of RAM. But never the less XPS 9570 can also support 2x32GB or 64GB in total, which was tested by this site

     https://www.compuram.biz/memory/dell/notebook/xps/series/15-9570/64gb-dual-channel-kit-2x-xa0ed.htm

and confirmed by some users. So, the CPU and chipset architecture allow it for both laptops, furthermore XPS was successfully tested for that amount of RAM, so I guess that same goes for the G5? Can you confirm this or elaborate, if you answer is negative, because simple answer like "max of RAM for G5 is 32GB" is not fair to the G5 costumers considering all the aspects of the problem.

    Thank you

I was looking for the same info, trying to go for the biggest ram possible.

    Check out this link: https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/us/en/19/g-series-15-5587-laptop/g5-5587-setupandspecs/memory?guid=guid-feaa12ac-49d6-4fac-aefe-9fb8ba6f1151&lang=en-us

    Table 1. Memory specifications.

    Slots Two SODIMM slots
