Aurora R10, BIOS 2.2.4

Question

I see that there's (finally) a new BIOS upgrade after 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 that broke my machine and necessitated a new motherboard and blocking automatic upgrades.
2.2.4 (14th Dec 2021)

What happened to 2.2.3?

So. What does this version fix? And more importantly; is it safe?
I have no intention of installing this one, till I hear the all clear.

My machine is fine and running great, so...

If your machine is running fine and great, there should be no need to update the BIOS. It should only be updated if you experience issues, or you have a specific issue that is fixed in the new BIOS.

It is fine and works a treat, so there's no real pressure to update.
I haven't actually been able to find what 2.2.4 fixes and given I'm 'only' on 2.1.3, so 3(4?) iterations behind, the risk for security issues increases. Or missing out on performance items like resizable BAR.

Microsoft has been updating the system BIOS and causing trouble by installing Windows updates at the same time. To avoid the Microsoft problem, I updated to BIOS 2.2.4. Also, the fixes in 2.2.4 were for my Ryzen 5800X processor.

AWCC immediately stopped working. I have the very latest AWCC version that was installed very recently. The right hand does not seem to know what the left hand is doing at Dell.

So far, there is no further damage from BIOS 2.2.4. If more problems appear, I wil report back.

I just updated my system, AWCC (version 5.4.9.0) still shows all 0's for CPU info on the CPU overview tab.  Hopefully this will get fixed in the next update.

t also doesn't look like they've fixed the very specific problem some of us were having where it wouldn't boot into any OS, but would pass all SupportAssist checks.
I would agree on the right hand, left hand schism.

I've been experiencing really weird 'CPU fan' issue recently. I cannot figure out if it is a bug somewhere, or what is causing it. I have 2.2.2 installed, latest AWCC/OC tools. Recently I have noticed after a while, my CPU fan speed stops reporting on AWCC and I feel that it also starts to ramp down the RPM causing higher CPU temps ( I use a higher offset when gaming ). Upon computer restart, it would always correct the issue. But I feel like whatever fan controller software in AWCC ends up 'hanging' or crashes preventing the CPU FAN from being properly controlled through AWCC. Not sure if anyone came across this yet.

I had the same issue with 2.2.1, The motherborad had been replaced, so I will be very suspicious before a new BIOS upgrade despite  the critical flag in DELL update tool !!!

Thats music to my ears as I have always had issues updating Bios on my Alienware R machines and the only way I got my R11 to 1.0.7 is from a windows update which I heard was not good to do but it worked. I see that for the R11 there is a new one Bios 1.0.10 so in order for me to get there I would have to get to 1.0.8 then 1.0.9 which I have already tried in the Dell Support with no luck. I click download update and the machine would just restart and not flash the bios so I gave up. I have no issues with 1.0.7 right now so thats good to hear ... really ! I think someone should make a video or Dell should update a video on how to update Bios through a usb drive for us people that no nothing about this process which is why I buy dell prebuilt machines, Love them !. If any one is up to it Thanks

Must add that I disabled all overclocking and bitlocker while trying bios updates.
