Aurora R15, latency audio issues
I have been having audio issues since my purchased of my R15 and its driving me crazy. I spoke to a customer service rep at Micro Center today and he stated that they are aware of the issue as many of their customers have complaint and returned R15's because of this and according to him its a very known issue.
He recommended that I install an app called LatencyMon and to see what may be causing this. Well sure enough it reports that my NEW PC has a latency issue.
It reads "Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. You are likely to experience buffer underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. Also one or more ISR routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates.
LatencyMon has been analyzing your system for 0:13:20 (h:mm:ss) on all processors."
Dell please let me know what I have to do to resolve this. This is clearly not an isolated issue as one of the largest PC retail chains that are authorized dealers told me that this is a known alienware isssue. The distortion is unbarable and im going crazy trying to find a way to resolve this!

Looks like the display driver might be a cause. I suggest to make sure you have the latest OEM driver installed for the R15, not the latest Nvidia driver from Nvidia.
The latest OEM driver is available from the R15 driver webpage address.

Thank you for your feedback, however I tried what you suggested and it didn't fix it. Any other ideas what may be causing this?

Latencymon will inundate you with data. The Main window and first page of Processes are all that needs to be posted.
Some general things that have caused problems are Support Assist (disable it and run Latencymon). another, for some, is Wi-fi. Unnecessary startup programs.
My recording studio system runs Latencymon clean. I have a new Dell Inspiron 16 that I intentionally have not cleaned, Latencymon shows problems but I'm not having any audio problems

I was going to ask, what the audio issues are, if any? There will always be a process that will take up the highest amount of processor cycles, no matter what.
But that does not equate to an issue unless it's abnormally high.

You should not be getting any " pops and cracks" while just using the system to listen to (normally good-sounding) audio files.
What find of audio-files are you playing, and with what app?
What about YouTube music videos?
What audio-card and speakers are you using?
Yes, I have lean systems that run LatencyMon pretty (like my Aurora-R6) ... but we usually only run that to check for Recording problems ... that's a more resource-hungry event. Just playing a file should be easy and trivial for any recent Windows computer.
