Alienware Aurora R6 clicking noise

So I've looked it up for a bit but I can't find anything definitive on the matter. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the PSU but it doesn't look like anything is colliding with the fan. I'm not sure what it could be.

Here's a video of the problem. I'm kind of sure it's not a HDD problem but you never know. Anyone have an idea of what it is? It's brand new.

It may be the power supply fan as the noise is definitely coming from the

PSU. The other two fans are not making any noise.

So is it the power supply or the fan?

You said the noise was coming from the Power Supply area. So, it could be the fan inside the Power Supply.

I can't see or hear your machine from here. Either you or Alienware support will have to open the side cover and verify where exactly the noise is coming from. There are other moving parts and fans in the machine that could instead be the problem.  However, if you read this thread and others, you will understand that there is a high probability that the sound is actually coming from the power supply's main cooling fan ... specifically, the fan's bearing.

True true. I opened a support thing. waiting to see what they say. they still haven't gotten back to me. hopefully fixed soon. the sound sounds like old dial-up internet from way back in the day haha so annoying. Thanks for the input guys. If they don't do anything about it, I will return it or get a new power supply altogether. It will be hard to figure out what is compatible.

1. Before I got my power-supply replaced, the rattling sound of my old one came and went (depending on fan's speed). It reminded me of a geiger counter.

2. I asked before, but you didn't answer ... what power-supply did you get ... the 460w or 850w ?

Ok, then you probably have this currently:

DPN: 48Y6D - PWR SPLY, 850W, EPA, BRONZE, HUNTKEY

So, just request this, and get it installed.

DPN: N1WJD - PWR SPLY, 850W, EPA, BRONZE, DELTA

Delta-made power-supplies are know to be pretty good. Many computer manufacturers use them (Dell, HP, etc. and also for their business-lines and servers). It will fit perfectly in that space on that bracket.

It's held-in with a few screws. It's cables are "modular" , so you (or technician) just swaps 12 or so colored plugs at the back of the power-supply. I took some phone pics before I started. The power cables/wires stay routed thru the computer. If you are familiar with working inside computers, it's pretty easy. Took me about 30 minutes, start to finish.

You are welcome to find and buy an after-market power-supply that fits perfectly and is proper wattage. I suggest something like a nice Corsair. You will also have to replace all the power supply cables in machine with the new ones. This option is quite a bit more work, but it is possible if you know what you are doing. Good luck with all of that. I instead chose to get an original OEM Dell part installed for free, under the warranty I paid for. My whole machine is still under it's full extended warranty since I chose to use Dell parts.

Final option is to request and coordinate a full return (if you act quickly). Get the machine un-installed and shipped back. Walk away from deal and wait for your refund.

alright if they get back to me and will send someone to fix it. I will request that power supply even if it cost extra.

It will NOT cost extra.

However, I would specifically request the Delta-made 850w unit so that you don't accidentally just get another Huntkey-850w installed, and have to go through all this again in a few months.
