Hi @Zen Svelte  our new out of the box Alienware 17 R5 Laptop has similar problem and our RTB warranty is active. The AWCC FX tab fails to appear and the 17 R5 is dark. Very poor Dell quality control for an expensive laptop. Despite many requests, Dell Technical Support has not provided the download link for the FX tester application to diagnose / troubleshoot this problem. Advocate using the Dell online Report an Unresolved Issue form to request the "missing" FX tester application

Hey, I also had the same problem where after installing the newest Alienware command center(AWCC) all my lights have not worked since the new updates and that was 5 days ago from today. I have tried every option and each unsuccessful. I have tried reinstalling AWCC's new and older version and none worked. Not only has it affected my keyboard and sidelight, but my charging lights. I have also tied to drain the battery and unplug the battery and hold 20 seconds and try it and that didn't work. They say it might be a motherboard issue but this fairly new computer. I can't do the recovery point because it doesn't go back that far for some reason. I have tried deleting/uninstalling AWCC with instructions and none have worked. It is kinda frustrating to me that after the new update my FX doesn't work anymore.

Has a BIOS recovery helped? I think that should reflash the AlienFX chip.

If the AlienFX Tester works fine then:

  • Right Click the AlienFX icon in the tray bar, select "Enable inactivity timer" and choose "Never go Inactive".
  • Uninstall the Alienware Command Center from your system as per the instructions on our article How to Remove and Reinstall the Alienware Command Center.
  • For Windows 7 Only:

    • Uninstall the .NET Framework 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5.
    • Restart the computer.
    • Install the .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.5. You can get them from here.
  • Download the latest Alienware Command Center from our Drivers Page

  • If issue persists please go to "Control Panel", "Programs and Features" and choose uninstall Command Center, when setup loads, run the "Repair" option. This will solve any software corruption in the AlienFX firmware while installing.

To let you know @Alienware Area-51 ALX 2006 that did not seem to work, reinstalling, uninstalling everything even the registry. Even resetting the whole computer, which basically reinstalled windows did not work. It can't be hardware, because it has never been dropped or anything that could damage it

Hi @Alienware Area-51 ALX 2006  thank you for sharing update.

The current AWCC includes, but fails to load AlienFX 2.0, and (unlike AlienFX 1.0) fails to include the AlienwareAlienFXTester application. Dell Technical Support fails to provide any troubleshoot for AlienFX 2.0.

I appreciate it and I hope suddenly one day you turn on your laptop and the LEDs start working again.
