17 R1, SD card reader driver
Hello all,
I recently acquired an Alienware 17 R1 i7-4700mq with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 765m gpu.. the laptop is in near new condition, and was even running windows 8 pro still, which is what it was shipped with.
Bought from a seller who did storage unit auctions and was sold as-is with windows password locked, but have since found no defects at all after reinstalling windows..
I went to w10, and everything is perfect except for the error code 48 on the Realtek card reader driver.. I’ve looked over probably 50 or so posts online throughout the different pc makers with the same error, and all of their “solutions” did not resolve mine. Just says that error 48 pertains to a driver not allowed by w10 due to possibly of corruption.
I’ve even tried the w8, and even w7 drivers as well (in compatibility mode) with no luck. It’s not too important that it actually does work, but I would like to find a solution for that one time I try and plug a memory card into it.
thanks in advance

Here are some you can try;
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-au/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=xywhm
https://www.realtek.cz/download-RTS5209-other-driver-for-Windows10-64bit.html
It's possible that the Lenovo driver will work
https://support.lenovo.com/au/en/downloads/ds103572-realtek-media-card-reader-rts5209-for-windows-10-32-bit64-bit-thinkpad-edge-e330-e335-l330
I don't have my 17 R1 ready to test one at the moment but hopefully one of these will work

Yes, this is an old one. The Dell driver for the 17 R1 just doesn't work for the SD card reader in Windows 10. The only success I've seen is from people trying a few drivers sourced directly from Realtek.

Thank you! I will download it when I get home from
work and let you know how it goes. Such a strange issue.. my M17X R3 never had any issue like this.. I would imagine it’s possibly different hardware.. but I don’t know how much difference two years could make for an SD card reader, other components sure, but SD cards are pretty basic.
anyhow, thanks again and lll let you know later tonight.. Seattle time is 7:16pm.. I’m not off work until 10.

Good evening,
I finally got settled and went to download the driver, and i clicked 'Download' and it gave me an error in Chinese, so i translated it and it said the download link was empty and to find it in the main page and try the download directly, do you by chance have the driver version?

Ahh sorry about that, the link used to work.
Are you able to check the hardware ID for me and I'll search that way.
Go into Device Manager and find the card reader. Right click on it and go to Properties. Then go to the Details tab and select Hardware ID from the dropdown list.

Hey! Sorry I haven’t gotten back to you sooner, had some family stuff going on. The hardware Id tab showed multiple values so I took a picture for you, if that’s any easier, and then one of the “current” driver it says is installed despite the fact I thought I had the most current one from the Dell website installed
