17 R4, LCD issue

IMG_20220428_133515.jpg

My LCD is not working, but external monitor does. Is it a LCD problem or EDP cable? Also, if I am to change EDP cable, is it okay to use ribbon with tobii eye for non tobii eye?

We need more information to answer:

Is there no image at all on the screen, even when you run a built-in self test (hold the D key through powerup)?  Or is there a faint image on the screen when you do this?

If there is a faint image, it could be the backlight in the display, but it could equally well be the power supply to the backlight (meaning a faulty system board).

If there's no image at all on the screen and no other evidence the system does not detect the display (which usually results in a flash pattern on the system LEDs), chances are the display panel itself is faulty.

When I tried BIST. I see no image. It is not the backlit issue since I can adjust the lighting.

As seen in the image. It has dark lines and seems like multiple dark panels. Also, somewhere in the middle, it has multpie vertical black lines that do not move if I press it on the screen.

  • Also, sometimes the screen flash from sides only.

The whole panel? Is it possible that the issue is the EDP cable only?

It appears the backlight is OK -- but the display panel will need to be replaced.
