17 R5, Anker Thunderbolt 3 dock, three monitors locking
Hello all, recently I purchased an Anker 13-in-1 Thunderbolt 3 dock in order to be able to plug less connections directly into the laptop when at home. Currently down to 3, the power, the Graphics amp and the thunderbolt dock now.
So for specs I have the Alienware 17 R5 with an intel UHD 630/Nvidia GTX 1060 and in the AGA I have a Nvidia RTX 2070 and have three 1080p monitors, two of wich are plugged into the 2070 and the third into the thunderbolt dock, which runs off the intel graphics.. no way to change that unfortunately... Mainly its set this way because I don't have another displayport to hdmi cable for the third monitor.
Now I've run into an odd issue, frequently the screens were locking up for a split second almost on a timed loop, like every two seconds or so after plugging in the thunderbolt dock. This happens on all three screens too not just the one on the thunderbolt dock. Whats even more odd it the bandaid fix I found for it is to disable the 1060 in the device manager or plug the screen into the onboard hdmi which makes it run from the 1060...
I'm wondering if anyone may have come across something similar or may have some insight as to what could be causing this or why disabling the 1060 manually fixes the issue when the third display links to the intel gpu.
Also I read a while back using the AGA should disable the onboard graphics automatically and I think for a short time it did do that on my laptop but something changed and since then I had always been able to use both nvidia GPUs
