610M wired/wireless mouse. Need usb cable replacement
I am in search of a good usb cable replacement that will fit in the Alienware 610M wired/wireless gaming mouse. The couple I have ordered from Amazon do not fit into the mouse and make it impossible to charge it. I do have a second mouse with the cable I can use, but I would like to not have to switch back and forth with 1 cable. I have contacted Dell directly but they cannot locate a replacement part for me to order. Has anyone found a suitable replacement cable to use with these mice? Overall I love the mouse, but I have lost the cable I had for the second one and can't find it anywhere.
Thanks in advance.

GREAT NEWS! I just lost my cable, I had no idea how hard it’d be to find this dang cable. Took a trip to local Walmart, looked for the slimmest cable and I found one that FITS SO PERFECTLY I would’ve never guessed. I took a picture of the packaging. They have different sizes for just under $5 I got the 10ft one that was repackaged cause it was even cheaper and it’s JUST a cable. Took it home and it’s amazing how perfect it fits. I hope I wasn’t to late for some of you! Best of luck!

What happened to the original cable? Research the problem here. https://www.dell.com/support/article/en-us/sln318286/dell-alienware-610m-gaming-mouse-usage-and-troubleshooting-guide?lang=en&ref=topsolutions

I can’t find it, it’s lost. A troubleshooting guide won’t help me locate it.

Mine is somewhere in the house, but on 2% I basically shaved down the rubber on mini usb port so the bottom is as slim as it can get, and the sides and top is slim enough to slide into the shaft. It works fine lol.

Hi @ToddMR74 troubleshooting guide says use Micro USB to USB-A cable to charge the 610M. Search internet for "micro usb charging cable" and get the cable length and colour of your choice.

The issue is, that you need a very specific microusb cable. The mouse has a specific groove and a very thin shape for its hole. Like someone else in this thread, I resorted to taking a penknife to a standard micro usb cable to shave down the rubber to enable it to fit. However this does weaken the cable, and after a few uses it broke. Rather than whittle down another usb cable it would be great if someone managed to find out how to get one from Dell, or if it is possible to buy something that will work "off the shelf".

Hi @rwalkerarn welcome to this user to user forum.
Perhaps a generous user can either supply dimensions for 610M interface with micro usb charging cable interface, or post a recommendation if a suitable replacement cable has already been found.
A photograph of the micro usb interface would help.

So this is kind of funny because this original post I made was so many months ago that suddenly people are wanting answers on it. I find that kind of funny. Lucky for me I have two of these mice and do have 1 cable that was not lost. I am attaching pictures doing the best I can. At this point, it isn't THAT important to me to do this, but I figured I would do it just to try to help others out. I have found 1 cable that does fit, that is much shorter and no idea what it originally was for. Dell SHOULD 100% allow for the purchase of additional cables for these mice since they designed it with a non standard cable end size. I spoke to support when I posted all of this originally and pretty much got no where. Anyhow, here are requested picture and sorry if its not as good as you were hoping, but I really have moved on from this topic I posted almost 6 months ago.

Hi @ToddMR74 thank you for being sufficiently motivated to share photographs. The front / side of mouse cable photograph was particularly good at showing the cable's engagement grooves.

The 610M Troubleshooting Guide article has feedback at bottom of webpage. Suggest where to get Dell unique replacement cable should be recommended. Dell should also tell their design team to use standard micro usb charging cables for their accessories.
If 610M purchased from Dell, always ask for this item to be included in user's Dell Warranty. If this 610M extension cable has a fault, make warranty claim to get replacement cable. Then Report an Unresolved Issue if replacement cable does not arrive.

Hi there, I have an actual solution to this issue to get the exact replacement for the mouse charger. Its inconvenient, but works. As mentioned before, the first option is to shave down the charger. I suggest doing this on a cheap micro usb charger if you don't want to wait for shipping or pay.
On the other hand if you call 1 800-357-3355, you will be connected to a national dell customer service line. Tell them which country to connect you to for service aid and eventually you will receive the help you need. Once connected, tell them that you need to get a replacement micro usb charger for the Alienware 610m mouse, but since the plug in slot is oddly shaped, a standard micro usb charger won't fit.
I am unsure if this will help but the item description for the item is:
KIT,MSE,DONGLECBL,AW610M,PM
Item number:
FK59F
Lastly, the product should come to around 1.63 + tax. I hope this helps you guys. I know the process is inconvenient, but after hours of searching amazon, I figured this would be the best solution and it worked! Its the exact charger that is sent with the mouse. Best wishes.
