A question about cooling

Will Dell/Alienware offer an external liquid cooling solution? There are configurations that supply an external box with a hook-up to route water to the CPU and return it to the external box. For intense games/applications on a laptop seems like it makes a lot of sense. It does make it somewhat less portable, but it does seem to protect the laptop CPU much better. Dell's customer service does seem better, but then again, waiting for a tech to come out and simply keep swapping parts does not seem as sensible as shipping it to the manufacturer and using a backup PC while waiting.

The answer is no, they won't -- engineering is the stumbling block, as there is no space inside the system to route cooling lines.

The best compromise is a large form factor 17" notebook with space for suitable heatsinks.  You can still find these -- but not from Alienware.

Well, there is a company that does that now, and the  cooling covers the CPU and the GPU, it exists, The cooler is external, so it does not seem to be a real issue

It is a prospective purchase! Just trying to find stuff out before spending $5000+ bucks.

The cooler is external, but internal hardware would need to be provided to connect to the cooler. Given how limited the space is in these laptops, and given the very small number of Alienware owners that would want such a system, I can't see it being financially beneficial to accommodate this.

True, it would have to be built into the hardware, which a small redesign could accomplish, which is why I asked if they ever would include it in their laptops. And for $200 bucks (actual price from the company it is available from) extra it sure is an option I would want to protect an investment like this. Games can make you run really high temps.

Hi @Zerosumgame  thank you for posting link to video so that users can see the topic of this thread. There are other, less complicated, more reliable options for Laptops on the move. Desktops already offer superior internal cooling options.
