Alienware keyboard issue solution
Caveat: my laptop is m15 r4 so not sure if this works for other models
This problem has been haunting me long and it seems i finally find a permanent solution, so wanna share it. (really, *beep* dell for all of the trouble and time wasted
The symptom is that the integrated keyboard stops working and if you investigate closely you will find an "unknown USB device" in your device manager with error code 43.
Temp workaround: uninstall that unknown USB device. Put laptop to sleep by pressing power button. Then wake it up and keyboard is working. (either use an external keyboard or on-screen keyboard for any keyboard usage during the procedure)
Permanent solution: **Make sure the keyboard is in a working state by using the workaround**. Go to dell support website and find the Intel HID Event Filter Driver for your laptop and install it. Restart to verify the fix. If this doesn't work, again **Make sure the keyboard is in a working state by using the workaround**, then go to control panel and uninstall the Intel HID Event Filter. Restart.
This has been working for me since. Hope it helps
