m15 R2, need urgent support, LCD
Hi everyone,
I have many problems with my 1 year/11 month old Alienware m15 R2 and in particular its LCD screen is dead now. I have no idea what's wrong with it. I tried to connect it to the second monitor via HDMI and It works okay. Could you please advise me how can get new LCD screen panel to replace it? Or How can I get support from Dell because my product is out of warranty. I bought this laptop in New Zealand and I have now moved to my home country in Lao PDR. Many problems occurred prior the expire of the warranty and my relocation. I tried to contact Dell support team, but the support function is not available since the product is out of warranty?
Your help and support are greatly appreciate. Thanks
Best,
Bouakham

Does the LCD BIST (Built-in Self Test) run at all?
Dell spare parts does not sell LCD panels. All you can do is search the web for a 3rd party seller using the LCD part numbers below. Your specific one is in bold =
HDM4C LCD, 15.6", FHD, 240Hz
NN19Y LCD, 15.6", FHD, 144Hz
HP20V LCD, 15.6", FHD, 144Hz
HXV8X LCD, 15.6", UHD, 60Hz
RWTD9 LCD, 15.6", FHD, 60Hz

Before you start buying expensive parts, just make sure that the LCD cable is securely connected to the back of the panel and the motherboard. I have repaired a few laptops that had the display cable ever so slightly out of the connector behind the panel. Also check that the cable hasn't been damaged or crimped.
If the cable isn't seated quite right then you can still have the laptop booting without a error code. For an LCD failure you should get a 2,7 or 2,8 red, blue light code on the power button. If your LCD has failed then the system shouldn't pass the pre-boot checks.
Read through the Service Manual before working on your laptop

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your suggestion. I have tried the BIST but it did not run at all. I have also used Dell support assist to diagnose/check the hardware issues and it no longer works as well. I have no idea what the matters are and where can I get the support. I connect the laptop to external monitor and it works okay.

Thanks for your advice. I'll make sure to double check it before getting the new replacement part.
Thanks.
