m15 R6, which docking station works?

What docking station/docking adapter works with the Alienware m15 R6? I have two monitors, keyboard, and mouse I want to dock with the laptop.

TIA

Quick update for my case (display connected directly to the USB C port, no dock). After a lot of reinstalling drivers of all types, I reinstalled the NVidia drivers from Dell's support website (with the "clean installation" option) and display out is now working over the USB C/Thunderbolt 4 port.

It looks like the more recent generic Nvidia drivers (that Geforce Experience tries to install) causes the problem. Perhaps this may also help with docks.

I think the point isn't what docking stations to try but when will Alienware fix the USB-C port to output video correctly since several of us were successfully using a Thunderbolt docking station till the last firmware update rendered video uselss. I have spoke with support twice and they basically told me Alienware didn't support docking stations. I will contact support again on a separate call since and followup with my previous case number but I have no hope that anything is different till a  firmware update is released re-enabling the video output on the USB-C port. I am quite dissatisfied with Alienware/Dell over this issue and after purchasing several new Dell/Alienware computers this will be my last.

The funniest thing is that this is a constant issue. I found similar posts where people claimes that the USB-c video was broken after bios/drivers/firmware dated 2019, 2020, and 2021 years.

How do you think is possible? I have no Dell store on my street. For DW15TBS dock delivery I've waited about one month. What if I buy it and it also will not work, because the issue is in the August bios update? In that case, I'll have two useless docks. If Dell provides me this docking station for testing for free - sure I'll do it. One more question. Support said that the problem is with laptop/dock compatibility, why in that case direct display port connection to monitor over usb-c also does not work?

Guys, the fix was delivered! I updated bios to the latest version 1.5.1 from Dell drivers download page and updated my intel UHD graphics driver to the latest version using Intel Driver Support Assistant. Now for me both connections work - direct to the monitor using usb-c and via WD19TBS dock.

I'm having this exact same issue at the moment. Unfortunately for me updating the bios has not helped i'm also using an m15 r6 and not luck getting screen to work  via usb C/thunderbolt port. I have tried several different cables and adapters still no good. The computer detects the HDMI cable as a "Billboard" and Displayport as "USB C Dongle"

ChukkyKatz,

I was very hopeful this was a fix for my laptop. I installed Intel Driver Support Assistant and it did indicate there was an update for Intel UHD graphics driver. I installed it and rebooted my machine but still NO video out my USB-C port with a direct cable adapter to the monitor. This worked before the firmware update of 1.4.3 so I know the equipment is good and the monitor itself as stated above works fine when plugged into the HDMI port directly. Glad this worked for you but I am still waiting on a fix.

Have you installed bios update to 1.5.1?

Chukky,

Yes, I had installed the 1.5.1 firmware update per someone in tech support sending me private messages trying to help get info for engineering. Unfortunately, I've gotten at least 6-9 private messages asking for my service tag, a few went further asking for other information for engineering but now they are back to asking for information that has been either entered in this thread or asked through a private message question. It appears they do not have a system or the ability to see what has been communicated before and I am now tired of a month of no real steps forward to resolve the issue. I'm going to call tech support one last time and get a case opened and hope that at some point engineering gets involved since my laptop has this as a SOLID REPRODUCABLE problem they could analyze and fix if they'd commit resources to actually finding and resolving the issue. Once again, I will NOT buy another Dell or Alienware product after 12 years of exclusively purchasing their products. Looks like they are just the same as everyone else in supporting their product and it's alot more expensive. I used to feel they were the best engineered systems for the money. Not anymore.

I am in the same boat. Alienware M15 R6 with Bios 1.5.1 and Dell Thunderbolt Dock WD19TB does not connect to an external display. I am using a LG 4K monitor.

Not sure if monitor makes a difference.

There is certainly something wrong with the latest bios and thunderbolt dock/display combination

The problem is in Intel video driver. Try different versions of this driver. Current setup, which works for me now: samsung monitor connected by display port cable, Intel uhd video driver installed by Intel update assistant, latest Nvidia drivers installed from Nvidia site, the rest drivers and firmware installed from Dell support site.

I’ve tried all the suggestions here and my usb-c port still does not display any video output. I’ve had this issue since August When the 1.4.3 required firmware update was installed. I’ve talked through private messages in this forum which were absolutely no real help and more bothersome asking for the same information over and over never seeing the information in other pm replies. Totally dissatisfied with dell service and lack of real support. I’ve even had two cases with support opened and both closed even though I am waiting on a reply back from Dell on the second case. This is the fifth Dell I’ve purchased over 15 years and it will be my last.

Thanks. Three differences in my case from what you described. I will give this a shot.

1. Displayport vs HDMI cable

2. Intel driver assistant vs latest driver download from intel website

3. Samsung vs LG monitor (Cant try this one)
