m15, RAM maximum?

Is the new 2019 Alienware m15's (Legend Design) RAM upgradable above 16GB? If not, any idea on when will they launch the 32GB variant?

@One_N_Only_Roy

If you can provide the "new m15's (legend Design)" model number I could search at Crucial to find out???

Or you could go there yourself and do the search.

Thank you @Alienware-Eimy

@One_N_Only_Roy

That confirms because of the CPU and memory type you can upgrade to 32GB memory.

Always update your BIOS before upgrading Memory or CPU .

https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=WJG14&oscode=WT64A&productcode=alienware-m15-r2-laptop

And there is a good possibility you could upgrade to 64GB

Hi,

As I explained before, the MAX supported memory for the m15 Legendary Design will be 16GB. And the memory can't be upgraded after purchase since it is integrated on the system board.

@Alienware-Eimy

Thanks for clarifying that.

So the "Legendary" design is an  Alienware m15 R2

Hi Dell designers,

I was looking for a powerful laptop for dev, some gaming and also be light.

This seemed to be the one but it’s missing the much needed 32G ram.

Too bad guys, I would have to buy the macbook pro which has about the same price.

Not a big fan of the soldered RAM.. makes no sense.. but that's why I'll stick to the older style Alienwares or Asus ROG.

In the same boat, I need 32gb of RAM, and the M15 R2 would be perfect (would have already bought) if there was a version available with this configuration... I dont want the R1 version as there are a ton of reviews stating that the old model has thermal issues, and the area-51 is a monster and not very travel friendly with its 2 power supplies.

I need a highly mobile laptop that I can use while traveling for work (25% of the time), when traveling I dont need the graphics horse power (simple stuff like web browsing, email, speedsheets, etc...), so a small GPU in this config would be great as well, like a 1660ti. The other 75% of the time, the laptop is docked and I would use the Graphics Amplifier for both work and gaming.

I just fitted "Crucial Ballistix BL2K16G32C16S4B 3200 MHz, DDR4, DRAM, Laptop Gaming Memory Kit, 32GB (16GB x2), CL16" in my Alienware m15 (R1?...bought in 2019, not R2 or R3) and it works a treat. I looks like it runs at 2666 MHz rather than 3200 MHz, but that's fine. It was listed by Crucial as compatible and it certainly is. I use Photoshop heavily and was maxing out the 16 GB I had before and crippling my laptop. With 32 GB installed, Performance monitor's memory page has not exceeded 25 / 31.8 GB yet, and it loads and calculates my demanding spreadsheets much quicker too. Happy days!
