If you actually want to have your external monitor powered by your intel igpu then you need to use your TB3 port and the appropriate displayport adapter. This should then only use your igpu. In fact it will not even use your nvidia gpu because that's the way this laptop is wired. External monitors connected to your hdmi or mini display ports are wired though your nvidia gpu.
