Is the Alienware x17 R1 laptop a recent purchase and has it always had this unstable Issue? 

I did look at updating the bios but it says that i have to have over 10% charge in the battery but obviously my battery isn't charging so now I don't know what to do   

It is about a year old so unfortunately the warranty has expired but it only started happening a bit last week then Saturday it just started go crazy

Updating the BIOS version is generally not recommended unless there is a specific feature that your application's give a notification to say BIOS version update is required. If the current BIOS version installation is fully functional, do not change it. 

Laptop without battery is designed to function as Desktop on ac adapter power. Please disconnect the battery to see if the ac adapter will power the laptop. When connected to the mains supply, the ac adapter, power cord's diagnostic LED light should work. When plugged into the laptop's dc port, the diagnostic LED should continue to work. If not, visually check for poor electrical engagement using a bright light. If possible, borrow a Dell OEM ac adapter, to see if this will power the laptop. 

At power-on, there has been no mention of POST (Power On Self Test) system diagnostic lights: Alienware x17 R1 Service Manual - Diagnostic-light LED codes (Red, Blue). Guess that you see the Alienware splash screen with the F2 and F12 options. Guess that the Windows icon makes a brief appearance and then user sign-in works. Please run Check Disk: How to Scan a Hard Drive Using 'Error Checking' (lifewire.com). Restart (not Shut Down). Then run windows Reliability Monitor to create event timeline: How to use Windows Reliability Monitor to identify software issues. Look for red critical events that are preventing the operating system to fully function. Please share the Reliability Monitor's output, using key combination shift + window + s key combination to get image, then click on message menu 'insert photos' to share.
