x17 R1, missing keystrokes

I am having an odd issue that I am hoping is software. When my laptop sits for around 20 seconds, and I start typing, my second keystroke is not registered. If I am actively using the keyboard, all keystroke work perfectly. It is not one specific key. I have done the Cherry Firmware update and the BIOS update. I have struggled to find a similar issue online. Any direction is greatly appreciated.

x17 R1 = i9-11900hk, RTX 3080, 32GB Ram, Cherry Mechanical Keyboard, 4k 120hz

No I have only tried the built in keyboard.

Try this:

Specifically method 2.

I did method 2 in the link you posted and narrowed it down to one of the USB Root Hub (usb 3.0). Once I turned off the "allow this computer to turn off this device to save power" it appears to have fixed it. I will use it for a couple days and then mark it as solved. Thanks for the help! Let's hope it sticks!

I have the same problem and I have the standard keyboard. It's intermittent for me though.

I have been talking with Dell support. So far we have not diagnosed the issue but I think we are getting close. I did a clean install of Windows (not the Dell service tag Windows install) and it fixed the issue. However, once installed I had no drivers. I installed a network driver and allowed Windows to update driver and run standard windows updates. Once the updates finished, the issue was back. I am probably going to reinstall Windows and manually install all drivers myself to see if it's the driver or a windows update. If I figure it out I'll update.

fwonneberger,

Did installing the newer drivers resolve the issue?  Let us know.

It did not. I have also been rolling back drivers, and that also did not help. I emailed Dell support agent I had originally spoke with and they are supposed to be getting some additional help diagnosing it.

My keyboard works fine in the bios and works good with an external keyboard. Have you tested yours this way?

This worked for me too!

Settings --> Device Manger --> Universal Serial Bus Controllers --> USB Root Hub (USB 3.0)

--> Right Click --> Properties

--> Power Management --> Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

Fixed!
