Working with support, they determined we "likely" had db corruption. We also had issue of Java core dump files being created (as large as 14GB) and filling up the hard drive.

Unfortunately, the only "fix" was to perform a rip and replace. We installed AppSync 4.5 on a new Windows VM, reconfigued the AppSync server from scratch (you can't use a previous version backup - backup file only works with same versions) and things have been running smoothly; all of the issues we had with 4.4 have subsided. This is not an easy option for every environment, depending on your size, but it worked for us. Good luck.

We are seeing the same issue.  I've gone though a few version updates with nothing resolving the issue.  We see the processes "OpenJDK Platform binary" and "PostgreSQL Server"  hitting 100% CPU.
