AppSync Mount Server
Hi,
I'm looking for some informations about AppSync mount operations.
I'm currently implementing AppSync for Exchange at a customer site.
Can anyone tell me if it is at all possible to snap a VIRTUAL Exchange DAG and mount the snaps onto a PHYSICAL host, in order to do the Exchange validation of it's database ?
Every time we try this, we get an error message saying that the mount server can't be found in the vCenter !!!
Thank you and have a nice day,
Chris

Does the Mount Server have the App Sync Host Plugin installed ? . Appsync should be able to detect the DAG environment and the Mount hosts automatically.

Hi,
Yes, the mount server is registered in AppSync as a Utility Host and the AppSync plug-in is installed on it.
Thank you and sorry for the late answer,
Chris

Sorry I have been held up for past few days too, I am not sure what could be causing the issue you have it all configured right. I will discuss this with my peers and will let you know if I get any possible solution.
On a side note : We have a Physical Exchange 2010 DAG Environment and Win2008 VMs as mount hosts. The validation process used to take us long hours (12-14hrs) to complete depending on the size of the databases (ours were 600 GB each ) and we found that the validation phase was not necessary for the Exchange 2010 DAG environment (if you keep at least 2 copies of the database) as exchange automatically validates the data during the replication process. Also the Transaction logs gets truncated even if you skip the mount and validation option within the service plan settings. We disabled mount and validation on our service plan and AppSync has been worry free ever since.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay. We were finally be able to have the backup work all the way. Apparently, the customer was working with Nested Mount Point, and AppSync is not compatible with this :\
I'm facing two new issues that are a bit strange:
1- AppSync sees a Physical mount host as a VM
2- When i do a Recovery of the DB (in VMware), AppSync looks in a specific ESX host. How do i do to tell him not to use that ESX host specificaly ?
Thank you for the information you could provide.
