AppSync supports PtoV, and it will create and map RDMs to the VMs. You will register the vCenter server in AppSync, with an admin user, which gives AppSync the authority to create and map devices, so you will not create the target devices or map them, that is what AppSync does.
AppSync protects SQL data and logs, but does not protect the system databases, so should be on different LUNs. Please refer to the User and Administration Guide for more details.
