difference between Atmos and Atmos Online

I'm a newbie here, and just a little confused about Atoms and Atoms Online, are they the same? the only difference between them are: Atmos Online are provided by EMC as a Cloud Server, and if you buy Atmos, you can get your own Atoms "Online", and control it, am I right?  just like the private and public Cloud.

another question is the REST API for Atmos Online also works with Atmos, right?

Atmos is a storage system that you can buy. Atmos Online is a cloud storage service based on Atmos. The REST API is shared, though some functions are deprecated in Atmos Online. A customer can certainly buy Atmos and create their own storage cloud for private or public consumption. The customer can also buy Atmos, deploy it on premise, and "overflow" content to Atmos Online.

thanks very much, LeoLeung.

another question you may be aware, it's about AT&t Synaptic Storage as a Service, it's based on EMC Atmos, so I think the Atmos REST API apply to Synaptic also, just point to a different host, is it right?

The only significant difference (other than the URI) that I have seen between Atmos online and Synaptic is that Atmos only supports HTTP (port 80) and Synaptic only supports HTTPS (part 433).  Atmos has stated that HTTPS support is scheduled before the beta period completes.
