Extended Attributes
Its unclear to me whether I can set the Atmos extended attributes listed in the REST interface guide. (E.g. user.maui.retentionEnd)
I see this note:
NOTE: These policy attributes cannot be created in an object using the calls to
setfattr/MauiClientSetUserMetadata(). The attributes must exist as a result of policy application,
to be retrieved or updated.
If I can set them, can I do so at the point of object creation or do I have to make a separate call to set the user metadata?

Adam,
You won't be able to set those attributes through the REST interface.
That blurb is meant to describe functionality in the UI for Atmos the on premise product.

Hi rbala,
Since we can't set the extend attibutes of EMC Atmos Online through the rest api, how can we control the expiration and retention of an object. Is there a default value for these attibutes when we create a new object?
Thanks.

Gonzalez,
You can set metadata using the REST API when accessing Atmos Online or any of our partner services, but there are currently no means of managing Atmos policies that determine retention, etc when using these public cloud services.
Programmatic access to policy management is only available with the on-premise deployment of Atmos Online.
