ECC memory, NICs, and Avamar
In the Avamar 7.3 release notes I find the following:
If the Network Interface Card on client machines does not have ECC memory enabled, backups to Data Domain could result in silent corruption of data.
Is this even an issue with server-class NICs? I can't find any information about whether my NICs (mostly Broadcom/QLogic) are using ECC memory but I assume they would be.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

This known issue is talking about the NIC on the Avamar Client. If your NIC card has ECC memory enabled, it will not be a problem.
I also checked the inside bug zilla. Engineering confirmed the backup actually fails if the data is not sent to DataDomain correctly.
