No need to delete the existing backups. As long as the new backup is configured to run as a full, you shouldn't have any issues.

Lan is correct. And if you keep the older backups on Avamar Server, you should be able to restore them if necessary. Of course, you can also delete them on Avamar Server if they are no longer useful.
