The Avamar client upgrade doesn't need to reboot the system. But, as I know that we cannot use Client Manager on Avamar 7 to upgrade 5 clients. Because, Client Manager on Avamar 7 can only see Avamar 6 and 7 clients; it is incompatible with Avamar 5 clients. So, if you encountered problemsduringupgrade, please contact EMC support for resolving. Hope this helps!

Generally Speaking, no.
However you might need to upgrade or install the Microsoft .NET to 4.0.
In this case you would have to check with Microsoft to see if a server reboot is required because of the .NET Install/upgrade.
