Updating Avamar clients
Greetings all:
We are currently running 6.1.1-87 right now. What is the easiest way to push out the most current client to our existing clients backing up to the grid?

The client manager has the ability to push out updated versions of the clients but high latency network environments can be challenging since the update plugin is essentially restoring the new version of the software to the filesystem on the client and installing it.
If there is an existing software deployment infrastructure in place (e.g. SMS / SCCM), you could use this -- the Windows versions of the client installers are packaged as MSI files.
If there is no deployment infrastructure available and there are remote sites across high latency links that only have a handful of clients, it might be better to deploy the updated client to those sites manually and use update manager for the rest.

I guess I forgot to mention here -- my reply assumes you're working in a primarily Windows environment. Push upgrades through client manager are only available on certain platforms -- Linux and Windows in 6.1.1, with some additional platform support coming in the next release.

you cannot push AIX client or Soloris clients with the em.
but works great for the windows! real fast.

When I go to the "upgrade clients" section of Client Manager(after upgrading to 7 from 6.1) I don't see any clients and when I choose "select packages" only version 6.x of the plug-ins show up. I'd like to upgrade my clients from 6.1.x to 7.x. w/o going client to client. Mostly Windows clients. Am I missing something or a step?

Im having the same problem. We just lease swapped a 6.1 grid to a 7 grid and migrated our clients across. When I go to select a upgrade package for clients I do not have a version 7 client package just 6.1. This would be the preferred way to upgrade the clients. Anyone have any ideas on this? Or is there a manual method to copy the client packages and deploy the update through client manager?

The "Avamar Client Installers" package needs to be installed on a system before it can perform push upgrades. You can download the correct package from the following location:
ftp://avamar_ftp:anonymous@ftp.emc.com/autoupdate/EMCRepository/36EfRuCe4azawA/Avamar_Client_Installers-7.0.100-427.avp
As the admin user, place this package in /data01/avamar/repo/packages on the Avamar utility node and then open the Avamar Installer GUI to install the package.
If you're not familiar with this process, please contact support and they can assist you.
