CMC 1000 won't change root password

I am running CMC 1000 on the latest firmware and when I change the root password, I am able to still login with the default credentials. I attempted to disable the account with no affect, I renamed the root user and I am still able to login with the default credentials of root/calvin. I reimaged the firmware and I still have the same problem. I am looking for suggestions so I can resolve this. Thank you!
