Generally, in non-clustered environments, for Hyper-V management, we configure a physically separate network adapter on a separate network connected to a PortShield group on a Sonicwall. We've found this to be a rather safe and secure arrangement as it keeps the Hyper-V servers themselves separate from the production LAN. It also makes troubleshooting much easier as LAN or LAN switch troubles rarely prevent us from accessing the Hyper-V servers remotely.

In a 2-blade VRTX cluster with an R1-2210 10GB switch currently set up with the Hyper-V servers sharing with the virtual switches the two teamed NICs that are exposed to the OS, can our usual setup be duplicated? We really want to get the Hyper-V servers off the LAN. My research so far suggests that a tagged VLAN might be the only solution as adding a separate network adapter for management doesn't appear to be an option on the VRTX.
