CAVA agent not running on celera, need to findout more

Have you tried restarting the CAVA Service using the "server_setup -P viruschk -o start"?

Does it error out and what does the data mover log say when you issue this command?

You can start CAVA from the command line with:

server_setup server_2 -Protocol viruschk -o start

But before you can do that, have you ever configured the CAVA service?  Set up your viruschecker.conf file?  Configured CAVA on Windows servers in your environment?

If you haven't done so, you should check Powerlink for "Using Celerra Antivirus Agent".  It will explain, step-by-step, how to install the CAVA agent and configure the service.

Could you paste the output of the following: "cat /nas/quota/slot_2/.etc/viruschecker.conf"

Once we have this, we can verify if viruschecker was configured on this box or not.  Make sure the DM can reach the CAVA server IPs configured.  If we do see an output, start viruschecker by running "server_setup server_2 -P viruschk -o start".  Once you start it, please get the output of "server_viruschk server_2".

I advice you to download refer the document " Using EMC Celerra Antivirus Agent". Looking at your message, I think that viruschecker was never configured.

The CAVA agent runs on a Windows host, but it required the CAVA service on the Celerra to be configured.  If this file does not exist, it probably means the CAVA service was never configured, as Sebbyr pointed out.  The document "Using Celerra AntiVirus  Agent" has the instructions for setting up CAVA.  Read this line carefully:

The viruschecker.conf file defines the Celerra virus-checking
parameters for each Data Mover in the domain. For CAVA to work
properly, some parameters, such as the addr parameter, must be
configured. Other parameters are optional and you can configure
them if you want to control the scope and style of the virus scanning.

If this file doesn't exist, you have to create it.  How?  Those instructions are in the document, too.

You can copy the template file from /nas/sys/viruschecker.conf to a local working directory, then make the necessary changes.  Again, I suggest you read the setup documentation - it's very, very complete and has all the steps you need in it.
