CIFS serves restart will affect the current production.
As part of nas_checkup activity we found some outdated DNS entry in Celerra ( NS480).

I was informed to restart the CIFS services after business hours.
Can anyone suggest me restart of CIFS services will affect the current setup.

Hi,
restarting the CIFS service will not change any configuration, but will disrupt the CIFS access to the shares, so plan it carefully.
But, these servers should be automatically removed from the DC list. See also emc218088.

Hi,
You need to clean the DNS and Wins with the Old DC records that would help you getting the issue fixed.
After cleaning the DNS and Wins you can just restart the cifs service. cifs server restart will have a cifs outage for almost 2- 4 min.
