Disk performance - stipe size

Question

Hello, I've been having some disk I/O performance issues and am looking over my whole system. I have a Celerra NS500 with 2 shelves of CX-500 attached storage. My main concern in shelf 1/0. This is an ISCSI FS hosting MS Exchange 2003 data. I've added more disks and am moving my stores around to defrag the DB's and also align sectors (I don't think it was done before my time). I was thinking about Windows formatting and matching that up with the stripe size the on disks. This shelve is all RAID 4+1. According to MS the default NTFS cluster size when formatting is 4 KB (for volumes 2GB -2 TB). I want to determine what the Celerra stripe sizes are so I can determine if I should stay with the default allocation size on Windows volumes or if I should change it? My DART version is 5.5.19-4. default stripe size now is 32kBIf you file systems were built in the very early 5.5 days they might the using the default from that time, which was 8kByou should be able to check that with nas_volume or Celerra Manager

I checked several volumes in my ISCSI FS in Celerra Manager and all the stripe volumes have a stripe size of 8 KB. Guess mine was built in the early days.

If the default for WIN 2003 volumes over 2 GB is 4 KB then I'm looking pretty good. Ont he next volume I format I will check to see if I can set it at 8 KB to match them up. Can't recall off the top of my head.
