Is it possible to migrate the celerra operating system disks?
Hi all EMC proven professionals,
I work in a EMC ASN partner in Spain. A customer of my company is reordering the space in its CLARiiON system. We have a doubt regarding the celerra operating system disks (root_disk, root_ldisk, d3, d4, d5 & d6) hosted on a R5 FC.
Is it possible to migrate them to another R5 FC or SATA raid group? In case YES, is it recommended?

Yes it is possible but it needs to be done by EMC or an authorized service partner following the correct approval and processes

Welcome to the EMC Community Network and Support forums.
The answer to your question will depend on what model of Celerra you are using. In most of the cases, the Celerra OS, which is called DART (Data Access in Real time) requires a FC RAID 5 diskgroup (Except for NS-120 and NS-20 where the system enclosure can be an ATA one).
However, please note that, although technically possible, but migrating the OS disks is very much complicated and requires highly skilled technical person - and typically needs to be done by the EMC or authorized person with proper approval and change control processes.
You mentioned, you are an ASN partner - so, I 'll suggest to get in touch with your EMC contact person to validate and work further on this.
