Max DAE and Disks on an Celerra NS40 Integrated

correct, NS40 max number of disks is 240 (same as CX3-40) and they are supposed to be spread over all backend buses

since its 15 disks per DAE that means 16 DAE's total max
configured as 4 DAE's (60 disks) per bus

The maximum number of disks the backend CLARiiON Model can have is 240. So your statement is correct.

However, on a side note, the Storage capacity Limit on the Celerra depends on the NAS code you are running and the type of disks you are having - here are some details you may find useful for NS40 model (some conditions apply) -

FC limit per Data mover -> 20 TB for 5.5 code / 24 TB for 5.6 code
FC + ATA Limit per Data mover -> 20 TB for 5.5 code / 64 TB for 5.6 code

Maximum captive array usable capacity (Integrated NS40) -> 68 TB (FC) or 165 TB (ATA) for both 5.5 and 5.6 code.

So right now we are using one datamove (with another one as a standby).
As you are talking about disks, is this usable, or total?
Right now i have 52 917.2GB SATA drives and 23 687.9 GB SATA drives.
Am i going to hit capacity soon?

Just so I am clear (and can report to other's clearly). Regardless of the space limitations, the disk limitation is 240, which is esentially 16 full DAE's?
Once that is hit, am I looking into another controller?

correct, after that either add another NS40 or upgrade to a NS80 (480 disks max)

These capacity limits are for useable capacity per active data mover (file systems plus savvols) and only apply to the strorage thats passed through the data movers via NFS/CIFS/ISCSI

They are getting increased over time with newer DART releases and you can also ask for an exception (RPQ) depending on your workload

They dont matter for the LUNs that you (might have) configured for SAN hosts

The overall big limit - number of disks - of course applies in all cases
