NDMP tape library cabling

I have a Scalar 50 with two FC tape drives. If I connect the FC port of the TLU directly to the AUX port on an NS500 will it see both tape drives and the library? I don't have an FC switch.

Excellent, thank you for the response. The tape drives are supported for direct attach, and they will be cabled correctly.

Thanks again!

you're welcome

of course you also need to configure your backup server that the library control is now through the Celerra using NDMP which shouldnt be a problem

If you're drives are supported for direct attachment and the library is cabled correctly it should work

I do know that I will have to configure the backup server as well, and the backup software (BE12) is qualified, so I should be all set.

Thank you again.

cool. Once connected take a look at setting parameter called "bufsz", there is a table in document called "Configuring NDMP Backups on Celerra", page 86 ..in that table you can find the bufsz value you can set for your particular drive type. It requires datamover to be rebooted after setting this param.

OK, I cabled the TLU fiber port directly to the data mover on the Celerra, and it sees the TLU just fine, but not the drives.

Any idea how to make it see the drives?

Celerra sees TLU but not drives.

When I run the server_devconfig server_2 -list -scsi -nondisks It sees the TLU

If I connect one of the tape drives directly to the Celerra and rerun the command it sees the tape drive but not the TLU. I can backup data this way, but don't have control of the robotics on the library

Am I missing something?

i've only managed i2k library, when you do your mapping, make sure you map partition, control LUN and the drives themselves.
