Storage Migration for Celerra Host Based or Storage Tools?

We are looking into options of migrating  data from to Celerra. Rsync is what has been  chosen. We are looking at 150+ terabytes of data. What are some storage  migration tools that can be used and would they be better than a host  based solution. The tools need to be the same for host and target. The data is Symmetrix (back end) SAN disk and Celerra Nas front end.

What  are the pre-requisites that should be in place for Open Replicator? Firmware level? SAN space? Priveleged acount needed?

Does it have to exist in source and target to work?

If we use Open Replicator does that involve licences? Thanks experts!

are you talking about migration data from Symmetrix to block storage on Celerra that will be accessed via FC or you need to migrate data that will be accessed via NFS/CIFS ?

Hi, it will be NFS and CIFS. I am gathering information for a project manager.Thank you!

Does EMC Open Replicator require licences?

Do the same versions have to be on the source and target?

Does it copy open files?

Is it already on the Symmetrix system?

Does EMC have to do the work?

You cannot use Open Replicator for LUNs that are used by NAS file systems

You need to use Celerra Replicator there

just use Celerra replicator, by far the easier and less involved.

We are migrating from an old Celerra to a new one. Symmetrix is on the backend.
