Centera upgrade from 3.1.3SP2 to 4.0.1 Patch 1

Good afternoon,

We use the Centera for our virtual tape data storage. It's time to upgrade Centrastar from 3.1.3SP2 to 4.0.1 Patch 1. The virtual tape "middleware" [ we use ] has not upgraded their Centera API/SDK and sees no problems in upgrading to this new level of Centrastar.

My question is related to the PEA files we are using on the "middleware" appliances, will the current PEA files work with the new levels of Centrastar or do they need to be regenerated ?

Please comment on additonal issues I should consider.

Thanks much

Hi eadva

The upgrade of CentraStar does not change the profiles, capabilities or secrets. You do not need to create new .pea files.

Many people think that they need to create new .pea files after changing capabilities resp. set grants commands. This is not true either.

A new .pea file is only required if you change the secret on the Centera side. You can change the home pool, add or remove management capabilities and so on. If you answer the secret question with unchanged no new .pea file is necessary.

Best regards, Holger
