lost my program's pointer to the data on the Centera

There is data on the Centera that I can no longer reference due to a program losing the pointer to the data.  What is the best way for me to return all the data or at least the c-clip references so I can compare to the pointers I have and the pointers that are on the Centera?

You can use JCASScript to perform a query-to-file which will return all clip ID's stored within the specified date range. JCASScript should be available on our developers website https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-2393

Please note that you will in all likelihood find many clips on the Centera that are not referenced by the application. These include audit clips, console, CUA backups etc.

Is there a logical way I can filter out the audit clips, console, CUA backups, and others using the included metadata in the c-clips? In other words, are these “unused by user” c-clips delimited in some way, maybe by a unique field in their metadata?

That will be a HUGE help, thank you so much for this information. I believe I have enough to get some usable information to bounce off our database. One last question, I am looking through the manual on the JCASSript program and it says I should use the pea file for credentials and if I have questions to look at the Centera Programing Guide which I can’t find on the site. My question is how does it want the pea file, is it ipaddress?filename.pea or ipaddress?actualstringofpeafilecontents ?

If in the clip ID, characters 16-18 and 24-26 = C9D, it’s an audit clip

There is no way to discern CUA or Console backups - You would only have these if you are using CUA or Console.

Its IP address?filename.pea

Or you can specify the pea file via an environment variable

CENTERA_PEA_LOCATION= \

If replication is enabled, you will need to use a merged pea file

Hi Jodious

If your application has written it's data with an SDK of version 2.3 or higher and you used a profile all your data should reside in one pool. If your profile home pool pointed to the default pool and other applications wrote to the default pool as well you can migrate your application data to a separated pool.

Most probably you'll have a pool with your application data. Grant your application profile the query capability so that JCASScript is able to list all clip ID's for you. If you only grant query in the pool where your application data is stored you will not receive any other clips than clips from your application.

If you need assistance drop an email to holger.jakob@informatio.ch so that we can schedule a Teamviewer or Netviewer session. We also have some other hady tools available for situations like that which would directly create a file containing all your clip ID's.

Best regards, Holger
