can source luns and clone luns exist on two different SAN(s) using snapview
Hello,
Please let me know if this is possible. We want to purchase a new san to host production and keep our CX700 for our development environment. We currently host production, snapview clones of production, development and staging on our CX700. A question came up during our planning sessions that I could not answer.
Is was asked if we could keep the clones on the CX700, after the source luns have been recreated on the new CX240. Is this possible? Can navisphere be setup to see both SAN(s), they will be using the same switches between them, and allow clones to exist on the CX700 when the source lun is on the CX240? The CX700 is currently running navi 6.19 and the CX240(if purchased) would be running 6.26.
Thank you!

With this said, there is nothing stopping you from fracturing your current clones in a Synchronized stated and deleting the clone relationships. This will leave the clone luns behind, which will be the same as the source luns (fully functional with the same data). The one problem now you have is as soon as the former source is changed, the clone is out of date.
As for Navisphere seeing both SANs, yup, this is setting up a Domain (multiple Arrays in the same Navisphere window. Click file in Navisphere and hit "set up Domain". One thing you need to know is that the array with the highest Flare code needs to be the domain master.)
Hope this helps.
