Clones and Replicas

I am looking for "best practices" with Replication Manager 5.0.2. I have 2 CX700 arrays, 1 production, the other at a DR Site. I was told to setup Local Clones, then Clone the Clones to the DR site, then create a local SAN Copy of the DR Clones. This seems wrong to me because if I use the Local Clones as my source for the DR Clones, it does not allow me to even select SnapView Clones. Only SnapShots and SAN Copies.

I feel like I'm missing something but if someone has a "Best Practices" answer, I'd like to hear it. I can always SAN Copy the Local Clones to the DR site but they want a Clone and a replica at that site. any help would be greatly appriciated!

The "Best Practices" is to have Local Clones, then SAN Copy a Replica to the DR SAN. Then Clone the Replica

You cannot clone a replica. The only way to get 2 copies of the data to your DR site is to set the replica count to 2. You can also mount the replica, then clone it. but this approach seems a little backwards if you are trying to have a pristine copy of data.
