CX-4 120 and Windows Server 2012

Hi

I'm having trouble to configure 2 LUNs in Windows Server 2012 with native MPIO Support. Under "Discover Mutli-Paths" ist a Device listed called "DGC   LUNZ"

When i try to configure all available devices with the following command "mpclaim -r -i -a" The device Moves from "Discover Mutli-Paths" to "MPIO Devices". The Disk Manager looses the before visible mutiple paths and show nothing after the needed reboot.. Can anyone tell me what the prerequisites are to install the LUNs correctly? Am i missing something?

Best regards

Chris

You can use http://corpusweb130.emc.com/upd_prod_CX4/ (CX4 but only support up to Windows 2008) and https://mydocs.emc.com/VNX/requestMyDoc.jsp (VNX but can generate the guide for Windows 2012, so you can follow this one) to generate the step-by-step instructions "Attach server" guide.

I generated one just FYI:

Hi

Thanks for the input. I had to manually register the server in navisphere manager. After this i used the following command line "mpclaim -n -i -d "DGC     RAID5"" and everythings fine now. Without registering the servers manually the storage was recognized as "DGC     LUNZ".

Best regards

You will see a LUNZ when the host first connects to the array and there are no LUNs configured for the host. This is the standard SCSI function. Once you create a LUN and put the LUN and the host into a Storage Group and the LUN is configured as Host LUN (HLU) 0 (zero) the LUNZ will go away.

You could use the EMC Host Agent version that matches the flare version of the array. You would configure to the zoning to make the physical connections, then install the Host Agent - it should find the paths and auto-register the host to the array. But you will still see a LUNZ until you put the host in a Storage Group with a HLU 0. But you can not put a host in a Storage Group until the host is registered (auto or manually).

For more on LUNZ see https://support.emc.com/kb/11116
