You can use the USM to check. Run it on the array and under the Software tab, there is a Drive firmware option. Run it and it will check to see if any of your drives have an update. Once it completes, it will give you the option of downloading the from Powerlink or pointing to a directory inwhich you have staged them.
Also, take a look at emc253637 which recommends that you be at R30 .509 to do a successfull online drive firmware update

So USM looked at the drives and downloaded the correct packages?
Looking at 2 of the Seagate’s so far.

I am trying to get this maintenance engagement done thoroughly.
First I was told that flare r30 .509 was not supported on CX4-120 finally they agreed ok sign waver.
Now they are saying drives are up-to-date no firmware needed.
I like this engineer he did the install.

The design team did not see any updates that XXXX recommends for the drives. I want to make sure we cover everything on this maintenance. Could you tell me the name or # of the firmware that is in question.
